Most corporate team building in Singapore is a good day out. People laugh, the photos go up on LinkedIn, and by the following Monday the same team is making the same mistakes with each other. The activity was never the problem. The problem is that nothing about how your people actually work together was named, understood or changed.

Strengths School runs corporate team building for Singapore organisations that want the second thing. Sessions are built on the CliftonStrengths assessment, so your team leaves with language for what each person does well, where the friction between them comes from, and what to do differently on the projects they are already running.

The problem with most team building in Singapore

Ask an HR or learning and development lead what they actually need and the answer is almost never an activity. It is that a team is misaligned. Two functions are quietly working against each other. A capable group is underperforming and nobody can say precisely why. A new manager inherited a team that does not trust them yet.

None of that is solved by a treasure hunt. It is solved by giving a team an accurate, shared picture of how its members are built, and then doing the harder work of applying that picture to the real tensions in the room. Team effectiveness is a function of alignment, not of enthusiasm, and alignment survives the week.

How a strengths-based session is different

CliftonStrengths is a Gallup assessment that measures where a person's natural patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving actually lie, across 34 themes. It is not a personality type and it does not sort people into boxes. It describes what somebody is good at and how they get there.

In a session, that becomes practical very quickly. A team sees that its two most senior people are both driven by execution and neither of them is naturally scanning ahead, which explains a year of firefighting. Or that the person everyone finds difficult in planning meetings is the only one whose instinct is to find the flaw, which is exactly what the team has been missing. The assessment supplies the evidence. The facilitation turns it into decisions about how the team runs.

What a session looks like

Sessions are run in-house at your office or at an external venue, as a half day or a full day. A half day suits a team that needs a shared language and a first application. A full day is appropriate where there is a live problem to work through, or where the group is large enough to need breakout work.

  • Group sizes from a single intact team to a full department, with facilitation scaled accordingly.
  • Half day, roughly three hours, focused on the assessment debrief and immediate application.
  • Full day, including a team grid, friction mapping, and a working session on a real current problem.
  • Delivered in-house or at a venue of your choosing.

Choosing a team building company in Singapore

There are a lot of providers in this market and they are not interchangeable. It is worth being direct about how they differ, including where we are the wrong choice.

  • Activity vendors run the event. They are good at logistics, catering and scale, and if what you want is a genuinely enjoyable day for two hundred people, they will do it better than we will.
  • Facilitators run the conversation. The value is in what gets said and decided, not in what gets done.
  • Programme partners treat a session as one point in a longer piece of work.

We sit in the second and third categories. If your requirement is a large-scale recreational event with a fixed per-head budget, an activity vendor is the right call and we will say so. If the requirement is that something about how the team works is different afterwards, that is the work we do.

Frequently asked questions

How much does corporate team building cost in Singapore?

Cost depends on group size, whether the session is a half day or a full day, and whether assessment codes are included for participants who have not taken CliftonStrengths before. Tell us the group and the outcome you are after and we will quote against that rather than against a per-head list price.

How many people can attend one session?

A single intact team of eight to twenty is the most common shape and the one the format is designed around. Larger groups are run with breakout facilitation. Very large recreational events are better served by an activity vendor.

Do you run sessions at our office or a venue?

Either. Most clients run in-house because it is simpler and cheaper. An external venue is worth it when the point is to get the team out of its usual environment.

How is this different from a team bonding activity?

A bonding activity is designed to be enjoyed. This is designed to change how the team works. The two are not in conflict and our sessions are not dry, but the measure of success here is what the team does differently afterwards.

Do participants need to take the CliftonStrengths assessment first?

Yes. The assessment takes about 30 minutes and is completed online before the session. Codes are included where participants have not taken it before, and existing results can be reused.

Can you run this for a leadership team specifically?

Yes, and leadership teams are one of the most common groups we work with. Where the intent is broader capability rather than a single session, our leadership programmes are usually the better route.

Strengths School has been building teams in Singapore since 2013. Team building is one entry point. Where the need runs deeper, our leadership programmes develop the people running those teams, manager training equips the layer that carries the day to day, and CliftonStrengths assessments for teams can be run on their own. All of it sits under our wider corporate training work. For the full picture of how we work, start at Strengths School.
